OBP
From SAS Wiki
OBP stands for Overall Baseball Prowess. Developed by baseball guru Joe Morgan in 2003, OBP incorporates various non-statistical metrics into a single, definitive evaluation of baseball talent.

Formula
The exact method for computing OBP is a secret held only by Joe Morgan and a trustworthy golden retriever named Duke. Experts believe that it equally weights heart, scrap, hustle, and RC/27.
2007 MLB Leaders in OBP
| Player | OBP |
|---|---|
| Jimmy Rollins | .513 |
| Alfonso Soriano | 3.27 |
| Juan Pierre | 45+ |
| David Eckstein | GRITTY |
| Jose Reyes | Light Mauve |
OBP and the American League
Because OBP is so dependant on bunting--or at least the threat of bunting--rarely does an American League player manage to even show up on the leaderboards in baseball. Twice this has happened, with Darren Erstad in 2005 and Scott Podsednik in 2006.
Controversy
OBP is a controversial stat. Opponents claim that it is confusing, noting that it makes absolutely no fucking sense in any meaningful way. Others, however, take comfort in allowing a Hall of Fame infielder and Emmy-winning broadcaster do their thinking for them.
